US residents plead guilty to illegally securing aircraft tech for Russia

Two Russian nationals living in Miami, Florida, have pleaded guilty to conspiring to illegally export controlled aviation technology from the United States to Russia.

Oleg Sergeyevich Patsulya and Vasilii Sergeyevich Besedin admitted to defrauding US suppliers, falsifying export documents, and violating US export laws and sanctions to conceal the true Russian destination of their purchases.

“These defendants smuggled sensitive aircraft technology into Russia following its unprovoked invasion of Ukraine and did so in violation of laws designed to protect America’s national security,” said Attorney General Merrick B. Garland in a statement.
