Two Ukrainian men, 23 & 36, ‘stabbed to death by Russian’ at shopping centre

A RUSSIAN man has been arrested after two Ukrainian servicemen were stabbed to death in Germany.

The horror attack took place at a shopping centre in the village of Murnau in Upper Bavaria on Saturday evening, police confirm.

The two men were found wounded on the ground of the shopping mall by officers.

One of them died at the scene, before the other succumbed to his injuries in hospital.

Shortly after the killings, authorities arrested a 57-year-old Russian on suspicion of murder, German news agency DPA reported.

The victims were 23 and 36 years old but, along with the killer, have yet to be named, in line with German privacy rules.

It remains unclear whether the three men knew each other.

The Ukrainian government said the two servicemen were on leave when they were murdered.

They had been in Germany for medical rehabilitation, the Foreign Ministry in Kyiv added, and lived in the southern German county of Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

An investigation into the “background and motive” of the murders is ongoing.

More than one million Ukrainian refugees came to Germany after Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

Germany has been a key partner in Ukraine’s fight against Russia, providing billions of euros in military aid to Kyiv since 2022 and training more than 10,000 servicemen.

More than 1,000 wounded Ukrainians have been treated in Germany, including almost 700 soldiers, according to the Health Ministry in Berlin.
