In an effort to strengthen its travel and hospitality industry, the Thai cabinet has sanctioned a temporary visa exemption for Russian visitors. This exemption, effective from 1 May 2024 to 31 July 2024, permits Russian tourists to stay in Thailand for up to 60 days without requiring a visa, as reported by Wego.

This extension continues the existing visa-exemption scheme that commenced on 1 November 2023 and was initially slated to conclude on 30 April 2024. With the fresh endorsement from the Thai cabinet, Russian tourists are granted an additional three months to discover the marvels of Thailand without any visa-related complications.

This strategic decision to prolong the visa exemption is part of Thailand’s concerted efforts to invigorate its tourism industry and draw in visitors from pivotal markets such as Russia. By extending this privilege to Russian tourists, Thailand is poised to stimulate tourism-related activities and play a crucial role in the nation’s economic resurgence.
