The third race on Day 4 of the 2023 Cheltenham Festival gets underway with the Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle at 2.50pm. One of the standout horses in that race is the Emmet Mullins trained Corbetts Cross. The Irish racing trainer will be hopeful of one of his star horses claiming victory here for the first time at the Cheltenham Festival.
Emmet Mullins trains the current betting favourite in the Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle – Corbetts Cross.
The 6-year-old gelding currently sits at odds of around 4/1 with the best horse racing betting sites. Corbetts Cross has won on each of his last three starts so far as a race horse, and has three out of four wins over hurdles. If he can replicate that form here at Cheltenham on Friday, he will be extremely difficult to stop in the Albert Bartlett Hurdle.
The Irish gelding aims to win his first Cheltenham Festival on his first appearance here. He is in great form with four wins and a second place finish in his last five starts. It comes as no surprise to see him as the betting favourite here.
He looks like he is a really strong horse and jockey Mark Walsh will be hoping for a win here aboard Corbetts Cross in the Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle.
In terms of Cheltenham odds, Corbetts Cross’ odds could well shorten as the Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle race approaches. Depending on the movement in the betting market, he could potentially go off a bit shorter than his current price of 4/1.
The Gordon Elliott trained-Three Card Brag and Willie Mullins-trained Embassy Gardens look to be Corbetts Cross’ biggest threats here. He will have to run his best race if he is to claim victory here.
